Getting There

Drive your car and park at the Springs to start your walk. Walk in a northerly direction on the Lenah Valley Track, this will take you to Sphinx Rock, continue until you reach Lower Sawmill Track, take a right, walk until you reach the North South Track and turn right. You will need to take the Shoobridge Track to get to the Ocotopus Tree. Make your way back onto the North South Track and head south until you are back at the Springs.

This marvel of nature is waiting for you on your walk through the rainforest foothills of kunanyi / Mount Wellington. This track loop will take you on a substantial adventure so pack your lunch and water to make a day of it. Sphinx Rock is a rocky outcrop and makes for a perfect natural lookout to the breathtaking views of Hobart's beloved mountain. Further down the track is the incredibly formed Octopus Tree, an enormous eucalyptus tree seemingly engulfing a large boulder with it's massive tree roots.

Dogs are allowed on lead on Lenah Valley Track but not on the North South Track.
